SF05-029 Guinea Pig and Rabbit plus 0.5% Cholesterol, 3% Coconut Oil & 3% Peanut Oil
A modified Guinea Pig and Rabbit diet with 0.5% cholesterol, 3% coconut oil and 3% peanut oil.
PLEASE NOTE: Guinea pigs have a known requirement for Vitamin C. This diet contains no added Vitamin C – it is imperative that if feeding this diet to guinea pigs either the water or other dietary components be supplemented with Vitamin C.
If diet is to be autoclaved, the recommended conditions are; autoclave at 120° C for 20 minutes with a post autoclaving vacuum drying cycle. Some clumping of the diet can be expected, but the diet clumps can usually be easily broken. Modifying the drying time to leave some residual moisture in the diet can minimise the clumping. Do not autoclave at 130° C as this will result in significant clumping that will be difficult to break. It must be remembered that cholesterol is likely to be degraded by autoclaving.
