We are delighted to announce the winners of the scholarships for 2010.
In the technical award there were two equal winners, both from the Australian National University in Canberra. Congratulations go to
Kelly Debono for her entry entitled Pilgrim's Progress, about improvements to animal housing and conditions.
Megan van der Velde for her entry about the care of King pigeons.
In the scientific category the winner was
Hannah Crabb from University of Western Australia with a paper on the different impacts of a high fat diet on dystrophic mdx and control 57Bl/10 mice. Link to abstract
Runners up in the scientific category were
Amy Blair from University of Melbourne with a paper on the effect of a high protein diet on the breeding performance of NZO mice.
Teresa Xie from University of Queensland with a paper on the impact of high fat diets on the endocrine profile of C57Bl mice during the development of obesity.
We are proud to sponsor two research scholarships:
- A scientific scholarship, awarded to a research project using a custom diet. The intention of this award is to encourage the sharing of knowledge about the use of custom diets for laboratory animals. The project should either have been published or be ready for publication.
- A technical scholarship, awarded to a project which improves knowledge about the general husbandry of research animals. This award is open to members of ANZLAA, and again the work should either have been published or be ready for publication.
